About

Katya Woloshyn began her musical education on the piano at the age of two, and began the viola at the age of five. Inspired by her older brother who was involved in the world of Canadian fiddle music, she also started playing fiddle (violin) at the age of eight.

She has studied viola performance at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto (Performance Diploma), the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (B.Mus), and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in Amsterdam (M.Mus). Currently a freelance violist based in the Netherlands, she plays regularly throughout with a wide range of ensembles including the The String Soloists, Sinfonia Rotterdam, The Dutch String Collective, the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Phion, and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. She also teaches violin and viola at De Vioolschool Haarlem.
