We are experiencing an unprecedented worldwide event in regards to the Covid-19 virus. As you have most likely heard, all concerts and events have been cancelled for the forseeable future. In the Netherlands the new rules officially only go until April 6th, but I fully expect them to be extended. It’s a hard time to be a freelance musician now. Not only am I sad to see some really exciting projects cancelled that I was really looking forward to, I’m facing a huge drop in income. The Dutch government has announced a 3-month funding package to help people through this difficult time economically, but we’re still waiting to see exactly what it will mean in practice for all us freelancers in the arts. Please stay home, practice social distance, wash your hands, and look out for each other. This is a global pandemic so we’re all in this together. We can get through this, and I look forward to getting back to performing for you when it is safe to do so.
